Morrissey signs with Sire Records after three years without a label

Morrissey has signed a deal with Sire Records, three years after his previous home, Capitol, shelved a completed album. We’ll see what new material someone who was also a singer of The Smiths.

According to Rolling Stone, Morrissey, the founder of The Smiths, has signed a new contract with Sire Records. The news comes three years after his previous home, Capitol, shelved an already completed album. Furthermore, five years ago, the BMG label officially stopped working with the singer. A decision that Moz attributed to new management and diversity. “BMG has appointed a new executive who does not want another Morrissey album,” he wrote in a statement at the time.

After the cancellation of his contract with BMG, Morrissey spent the following years trying to publish the two albums that served as a continuation of “I Am Not A Dog On A Chain” (20).
