Morrissey returns to the world of published music. After three years without a label and after recently signing with Sire Records, he has shared “Make-up is a Lie”, a single that points to his new album.
We will finally be able to hear the material that Morrissey had ready and that Capitol did not want to publish. In fact, five years ago, the BMG label officially stopped working with the singer. A decision that Moz attributed to new management and diversity. “BMG has appointed a new executive who does not want another Morrissey album,” he wrote in a statement at the time.
After the cancellation of his contract with BMG, Morrissey spent the following years trying to publish the two albums that served as a continuation of “I Am Not A Dog On A Chain” (20). We talk about “Bonfire Of Teenagers” –which features Chad Smith, Flea and Iggy Pop– and what it should be “You’re Right, It’s Time”a second album that also had the title “Without Music The World Dies” and which finally ended up being called “Make-up is a Lie”. The album will be released on March 6.
In fact, we can now hear the title song, produced – like the entire album – by Joe Chiccarelli and co-written with his musicians Camila Gray and Jonathan Forrest Bates. And this will be, without a doubt, one of the songs that will be played on their Spanish tour, which will take place a few days after the release of the album. If Morrissey doesn’t cancel due to one of his health excuses, we can see him in Valencia (Thursday, March 12, Palau de les Arts), Zaragoza (Saturday, March 14, Auditorium) and Seville (Monday, March 16, Cartuja Center).
The album will include a total of twelve songs, which are: “Headache”, “Make-up is a Lie”, “The Monsters Of Pig Alley”, “You’re Right, It’s Time”, “The Night Pop Dropped”, “Kerching Kerching”, “Zoom Zoom The Little Boy”, “Lester Bangs”, “Boulevard”, “Many Icebergs Ago”, “Amazona” and “Notre-Dame”.
