Morgan Wallen and Tate McRAE enter the number 1 of the United States singles with their new collaborative single, ‘What I Want’. They unseat another Chica-Chica duo, ‘Luther’ by Kendrick Lamar and Sza, which added 13 consecutive weeks at the top. In the end it has been Morgan, and not Drake, who has managed to put an end to Kendrick and Sza reign in the Billboard Hot 100. Of course, ‘i’m the problem’, Wallen’s new album is also number 1 in the country.
‘What I Want’ gives Wallen his fourth single number 1 in the United States: he had previously succeeded with ‘Love Sombody’, ‘I need submop’ with post Malone and ‘Last Night’. In the case of Tate Mrae, he is the first, because ‘Greedy’ did not go from 3 (his album, ‘So Close to What’, he has succeeded).
2025 is being a particularly fruitful year for the small-chica duos: not only ‘luther’ and ‘What I Want’ have encountered the Billboard Hot 100, he has also done so for multiple weeks ‘Die with a Smile’ by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, in this case five.
‘What I Want’ has been the Focus Track on the release day of ‘i’m the problem’ and it is not difficult to guess why its fusion of pop, country and trap is triumphing in the United States.
