Mk.gee revives Prince’s guitars on the delicate ‘Lonely Fight’

With his recognizable style centered around guitar experimentation, Mk.gee (pronounced McGee) is establishing himself as one of the biggest talents of this generation. On ‘Lonely Fight,’ he totally channels the Prince of ballads. It’s the Song of the Day.

In his first release since the wonderful ‘Two Star & The Dream Police’, Mk.gee builds a dreamy atmosphere led by his signature sound, in which the guitars blend together and refer directly to the best of the 80s.

However, the innovation he presents is typical of the times we live in. “She dances like nobody’s watching / She’s praying that somebody will,” sings the 26-year-old American.

Michael Todd Gordon has already caught the attention of some very big artists. Hozier recommended him in our recent interview with him. Justin Bieber is recording with him. Even more so: Eric Clapton described him as a “unique” guitarist and compared him to the first time he saw Prince. Mk.gee also named Clapton as one of his favorite guitarists in 2018.

The former Cream member also recommended the short film ‘Absolutely’ (2022), in which Dijon and Mk.gee show an incomparable chemistry: «I couldn’t believe it. Innovation is happening. It’s still happening,» commented the iconic guitarist.
