Mexican Institute of Sound and Meridian Brothers premiere “Cumbia de los Estudiantes”

“Cumbia de los Estudiantes” is the second preview of the next collaborative album between Mexican Institute of Sound and Meridian Brothers.

The Mexican and the Colombian group have presented their new single “Cumbia de los Estudiantes”, which becomes the second preview of their joint album “Tovar Noise”, which will see the light next May 22. The song condenses the creative clash between both artists, resulting in an ironic and slightly dystopian cumbia that serves as a dance and also as a protest song. The song is accompanied by a video clip directed by Penumbra Cinema.

Along with this announcement, both artists will offer a concert next July 10 at the But room in Madrid to present their first full-length ensemble.

Mexican Institute of Sound is Camilo Lara, a Mexican DJ and producer who has been making his music under this pseudonym since 2006. He takes advantage of his songs to give a message of protest and social justice. He has collaborated with various artists such as Norah Jones, Run-DMC either Beastie Boysamong others. On the other hand, Meridian Brothers is an experimental band led by the Colombian musician Eblis Alvarezfounded in 1998. The group mixes electronic and avant-garde music with traditional Colombian music styles, especially cumbia.
