Marina has announced that her new single, ‘Butterfly’, opens next Friday, February 21. That will be the day when the new era of Marina Diamandis is inaugurated, four years after the launch of ‘Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land’ (2021).
Fragments of the chorus of ‘Butterfly’ have been heard in recent days by Tiktok and, today, Marina advances the official video clip of the song, which has been directed by Aerin Moreno, director of the visuals of ‘Greedy’ by Tate McRAe or ‘ Push 2 Start ‘of Tyla.
In the few seconds of the clip, Marina poses inside a luxurious room and vintage style, which highlights the blue and sofa cake blue tone. Marina, on the other hand, interprets the song standing or on the mattress, wearing black girdle and red heels.
The advance of ‘Butterfly’ effectively reveals the chorus of the song, marked by the almost childish style of a choir similar to the one that can be heard in some J-Pop recordings. Of course, electropop production is still a brand of the house. In other words, the sound of ‘Butterfly’ does not seem generic, contrary to what its title can suggest.
‘Butterfly’ will be part of an album that will be “very fun,” in the words of Marina Diamandis. His second album, ‘Electra Heart’ (2012), has just been named one of the 500 best albums of the 21st century by Rolling Stone.
