Mariah Carey breaks records again… but not one of Taylor Swift’s

‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey has once again been the most listened to song this Christmas, placing it at number 1 on Spotify Global for the 78th non-consecutive day. In data from December 24, this song written by the artist in the 90s has added 24,863,570 streams.

Very close is ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham!, which has added 24,556,791 during Christmas Eve, that is, only 300,000 less streams. Of course, the song written by George Michael has never reached number 1 globally. Brenda Lee leads US Spotify and Wham! that of the United Kingdom, but globally, there is no one who can blame Mariah Carey, who is number 1 on Spotify in Italy, France, Australia or Japan.

Mariah Carey has achieved one million more streams this year than on Christmas Eve 2023, but those 24.9 million streams have not been enough to achieve the best historical day for a song on Spotify.

The most listened to song in history in a single day on Spotify continues to be ‘Fortnite’ by Taylor Swift and Post Malone, with 25,204,472 streams. Mariah Carey fans are encouraged to give themselves even more to the cause, already on Christmas Eve 2025.

Among the records that Mariah Carey has added this year are her 17th week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, where it is already her longest-running hit above ‘One Sweet Day’. It could eventually be the longest-running number 1 song in history, if it stays that way for years to come. The song has also been at number 1 on “Streaming” in the United States for 21 weeks. By surpassing the 20 weeks that Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ ‘Old Town Road’ led streaming; On that particular streaming list, ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ is the longest-running song in history at number 1.

We leave you with a new performance made for Netflix and the NFL.
