Mariagrep and Prestige Worldwho had collaborated on several songs in recent years, release “Ai de mí”, the first preview of their album
Mariagrep and Prestige World They have been demonstrating for years that they are musical brothers who, whenever possible, have brought closer positions and collaborated with each other and vice versa. They did the same in “Cogollito”, one of the songs from the Compostela’s latest album; or in “Superbuena”, a single from five years ago by the Vigo band. Now, they formalize that musical and personal brotherhood on an album together. “Brothers be united, because that is the first law,” says the book. “Martin Fierro”; but they also say it Mariagrep and Prestige World.
The first preview they have published is “Ai de mí”, a song that already reveals the sound seams of this joint project. In it they manage to maintain the most recognizable watermarks of each one, but new sound variables are also illuminated. There are echoes that can lead us to Clairo, Men I Trust, beabadoobee, Faye Webster either Strawberry Guy. It is a kind of dreampop that is as intimate as it is expansive, where that grain that is at times lo-fi and at times highly grooved places the song in a mixed space.
“Ai de mí” serves to introduce us to a universe of rich sound that amplifies the record of both projects to inhabit a new space. Mariagrep and Prestige World They will be presenting the project live starting this spring, when this material is released. At the moment, no concert dates have been officially confirmed.
