‘Shared Love’ by Cupido will be our Album of the Week, taking advantage of the announcement of 6 concert dates throughout Spain. In addition, the Pimp Flaco band’s album will be completed this Friday with the mysterious track 1 that still appears in gray on streaming platforms. For now we select as Song of the Day the bolero that Cupido has sung with Cuco, ‘Maldito Cupido’.
Cupido’s new album is marked by collaborations, as successful as that of Little Jesus in ‘Parada del Bus’ or that of Kinder Malo in ‘Calle de la Pena’.
Cuco is known, in general, for the delicious retro vibe of his compositions, and here Cupid let themselves go into their territory, unlike what happens on the rest of this album. A bolero piano and a delicate guitar arpeggio guide this wonderful composition full of jealousy: “I don’t know who your new boyfriend is (…) I only know that I would like to be him.”
The chorus curses love, the “lucky bastard” (that self-reference), while remembering better times (“only the moon knows what we both did on the same mattress”) and considering lying (“congratulations on your new relationship, it’s good to see you so happy, but I don’t feel that way”). Tickets for Cupid’s tour are on sale now.
