Madrid Popfest confirms Comet Gain, The Umbrellas, Doble Pletina…

Madrid Popfest will celebrate its 12th edition on the weekend of March 1 and 2, 2024 at the Galileo Galilei room in Madrid. The original philosophy of the festival, based on self-management and DIY ethics, remains its essence.

The first preview of the Madrid Popfest poster reveals, as usual, several international names. This is the case of the British noise pop band Comet Gain, the Scottish “butch synth pop” group Brenda and the San Francisco indie-pop group The Umbrella and the soloist Milky Wimpshake, who, from Newcastle, practices a mix of punk indie pop.

As for national confirmations, Barcelona’s Doble Pletina needs little introduction, recently the authors of a film and its soundtrack. Also announced are the Bilbao jangle-pop band Lava Rosa, the shoegaze Las Retamas, from Madrid, and the adorable dalsi, from Galicia.

Madrid Popfest reports that the festival’s presentation party, scheduled for next January 27 at the Galileo Galilei room, will feature a performance by the British band Heavenly, after more than two decades without setting foot in Madrid. The English Would-be-goods are also confirmed, as well as the Barcelona-based Neoleonard, within this special program.

Tickets to Madrid Popfest are “about to sell out,” the festival reports. Subscriptions are available at DICE for 40 euros.
