Madonna is back to work on her biopic, which was cancelled last January 2023 after being in the works for several years. The singer showed this on her social networks through a photo shoot during the rewriting of the script of the film, now titled ‘Who’s That Girl’, the same as her 1987 album and film of the same year.
The autobiographical film, which was to be directed by Madonna herself, was scrapped from Universal Pictures’ plans in early 203. One reason may have been the ‘Celebration’ tour, which began in July 2023. Another reason may have been the long duration of the project. However, Madonna has remained interested in its development.
According to Entertainment Weekly, actress Julia Garner remains the choice to play Madge after being the favourite among a dozen candidates. In 2022, Madonna explained to Variety her commitment to make the film herself and the reason behind it: “I’ve had an extraordinary life, I must make an extraordinary film.” In other news, we remind you that JENESAISPOP will be commenting live on the documentary ‘In Bed with Madonna’ at the Matadero Madrid summer cinema, this Thursday, July 18, starting at 10:15 p.m. Tickets are 5 euros.
