He Cajagranada Theater will host a very special performance of M. Ward Within the presentation tour of For Beginners: The Best of M. Warda compilation that reviews his career in the Merge Records label that is precisely 35 years old.
The American singer -songwriter M. Wardone of the key figures of contemporary American folk-rock, will act for the first time in Andalusia next month within the presentation of the presentation of For Beginners: The Best of M. Wardhis new compilation edited by Merge Records. The concert, which will be held in the Cajagranada Theateris part of the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the emblematic independent seal based in North Carolina.
Far from being a conventional anthology, For Beginners It works as a presentation letter for new listeners and, at the same time, as a revitalized retrospect for its most faithful followers. It is an intimate reinterpretation of the Godley & Creme classic, registered in just 30 minutes in front of an Anselm Kiefer sculpture. In the words of the artist himself, it was a special and spontaneous moment, loaded with symbolism and emotion.
Matthew Stephen Ward (Ventura, California, 1973) is known for its warm, nostalgic and lo-fi style, which mixes folk, blues, rock and pop with a deeply personal and evocative approach. Has published acclaimed works such as Transfiguration of Vincent, Post-War either To Wasteland Companionconsolidating as one of the most unique composers of the American independent landscape. His whispered voice, his subtle guitar and his careful arrangements have made him a reference for lovers of musical authenticity.
In addition to his solo career, Ward is also co -founder of the duo She & Him next to Zooey Deschanelwhere they explore vintage pop with a retro and cinematographic aesthetic, and was part of the supergroup Monsters of Folk, along with Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), Jim James (My Morning Jacket) and Mike Mogis.
