Luz Casal is among the six distinguished personalities with a noble title by King Felipe VI on the occasion of his first decade of reign. The interpreter of ‘Think of me’ will be from now on Marquise of Light and Peace. Also in the cultural field, although from sport, Rafa Nadal has been appointed Marqués de Llent de Mallorca.
In addition to Casal and Nadal, they have been awarded with noble titles – the first granted by Felipe VI since the beginning of their reign – other outstanding figures from different areas. Jaime Alfonsín Alonso, head of the King’s house for ten years, will be Marqués de Alfonsín; Paralympic swimmer Teresa Perales, Marquesa de Perales; the biochemist Carlos López Otín, Marqués del Castillo de Lerés; and photographer Cristina García Rodero, Marquesa del Valle de Alcudia.
All the winners “are exponents of excellence, either at the service of the crown or in the field of thought, culture, science, arts or sport”, in the words of Felipe VI.
