Luna Ki will withdraw from public opinion for a time

Tonight the first semi-final of Benidorm Fest 2026 took place, with the eliminations of DORA & Marlon Collins, Greg Taro and Luna Ki. The latter, despite having one of the best songs of the edition. Her intervention has also been widely commented on after she left the set before the votes after feeling “unwell.”

The Luna Ki team has sent a statement about what happened: «We want to clarify that Luna had to leave the venue right at the end of her performance, before the voting began.

The artist suffered an episode of anxiety that required immediate attention and her withdrawal from the public spotlight. Behind the artist who takes the stage is a sensitive person: Luna’s health and well-being are and will always be above any professional commitment and show. “For this reason we ask the media and users on social networks for responsibility, empathy and respect.”

The note ends by thanking María Eizaguirre and César Vallejo from RTVE for their “human treatment.” And they conclude: «Luna is resting right now, contained by her environment and her loved ones. Thank you also to those who send messages of affection knowing how to see the person behind the character.

According to Vertele, Luna Ki will not fulfill its contractual commitments with Benidorm Fest and will be removed from the public eye for a while.

The author of ‘Bomb of Love’ had retired without prior notice after not feeling completely well: “Right now we can’t find her in this ‘green room’ because she is unwell, so we wish her a speedy recovery,” commented Inés Hernand. Immediately, the audience began to ask about her, so Jesús Vázquez clarified that Luna had been “absent from the auditorium”, but that “she is fine.”

María Eizaguirre, communications director of RTVE, has shown her support for the singer in the press room of the venue: “On behalf of RTVE I want to say that Luna is an artist from head to toe: she is all sensitivity, heart, she is a hypersensitive person, authentic, so truly…”, she assured before asking for a “very affectionate applause.”

Hours before the performance, Luna Ki described her intervention as “one of the most important moments of (her) career” and announced that she was going to announce “the album of (her) life”, coinciding with the date of her 27th birthday. The messages he retweeted on his X page were also quite revealing:

«We have all been Luna Ki at some point. We have not been able to, we have felt overwhelmed by something… And yet we have not felt supported,” one of them reads. “People who have suffered mental health problems understand it, I’m sure,” he concludes. The other message retweeted by Luna is more direct: “It’s okay because you didn’t feel comfortable tonight, you’re worth a lot and a bad trick doesn’t change that.”

According to EL MUNDO, Luna Ki would have needed “assistance” after “artists and representatives” saw her “stressed, deeply upset and visibly overwhelmed” in the hallways.
