Lucky Love is the alias of the French singer and songwriter Luc Bruyère. Cut his teeth in Madame Arthur’s cabaret, where he worked as a dancer and drag queen for years using the pseudonym La Venus des Mille Homme (due to his resemblance to Venus de Milo; curiously, he also looks a lot like Freddy Mercury), Bruyère He has been publishing his own music since 2022.
It was that year when the public could hear for the first time his demand for a “Masculinity” not attached to the hegemonic. Bruyère, who was born without a left arm, refuses to wear prosthetics and, as a queer singer living with HIV, uses her platform to advocate for her liberation from the expectations imposed by patriarchy on men and women alike.
«What about my masculinity? What the hell is wrong with my body? Am I not enough? Who gives you the right to impose the rules? he sang Lucky Love in a ‘Masculinity’ that, this year, he presented at the Paris Paralympic Games. His demand for LGBT+ love is explicit in ‘Love’, another of his star songs.
In 2023, Lucky Love’s first EP, ‘Tendresse’, was released. Decorated with a beautiful cover, it includes other well-known Lucky Love cuts such as ‘J’Veux D’La Tendresse’ or ‘Toutes mes vérités’ with French star Juliette Armanet.
On a more personal side, Lucky Love’s single released in September, ‘I Don’t Care if It Burns’, has been another Lucky Love love song. It is the first sample of Bruyère’s first album, also called ‘I Don’t Care if It Burns’, which will be released in November. Lucky Love will present it in Spain on November 16 at the Changó room in Madrid on November 16 and on November 17 at La Nau in Barcelona.
