Lorde has announced his fourth studio album. This is titled ‘Virgin’ and will be available from June 27. The first advance, so ‘melodrama’, was released last week under the title of ‘What Was That’. The album will have 11 songs in total.
The album is produced by Lorde with Jim-E-Stack (Bon Iver) and includes the collaborations of Fabiana Palladino, Andrew Anged, Buddy Ross, Dan Nigro and Dev Hynes, also known as Blood Orange. According to the singer’s website, ‘Virgin’ is “written with 100%blood.”
In the purest Lorde style, the New Zealand artist has accompanied the announcement with an email dedicated to her fans: «The color of this album is crystalline. As bath water, windows, ice, saliva. Total transparency. Language is flat and un sentimental. The sounds are the same always where possible. I was trying to see myself, to the bottom. I tried to make a document that reflected my femininity: raw, primary, innocent, elegant, honest, spiritual, masculine ».
«I am proud and scared of this album. There is nowhere to hide. I believe that turning the deepest parts of us into music is what frees us, ”concludes the singer.
The ‘Virgin’ rollout began two weeks ago in the Tiktok account of Lorde, in which a clip climbed walking through the streets of New York while listening to the first fragment of ‘What Was That’. A week later, the song was already on platforms. This album will be the successor of ‘Solar Power’, released in 2021.
