Lola Indigo and Suzete become goddesses in ‘Kombolewa’

The latest contestants of Operación Triunfo have left interesting songs, but so far no mainstream hits. That could change soon, with the release of a remix of Suzete’s ‘Kombolewa’, which Lola Indigo has decided to join.

‘Kombolewa’, with its Afropop beat, was already one of the best songs to come out of Operación Triunfo 2023, and so far had 1.5 million streams on Spotify. The remix includes new verses from Lola Indigo, whose voice is the first to be heard on the recording. The rhyme “erotic-co-co / warm like a sirocco-co-co” definitely adds to the hook of the song, which was already catchy thanks to its chorus “kombolewa / wa-wa kombolewa”. “Kombolewa”, by the way, means “liberated” in Swahili.

‘Kombolewa’ was produced by KICKBOMBO, a trio known for their work with Belén Aguilera and Vicco, to which Tunvao, a regular collaborator of Judeline, was added.

Regardless of the outcome, ‘KOMBOLEWA’ has the charm of bringing together two of the first contestants to be expelled from Operación Triunfo: one a few years ago, and the other in its latest edition. The next edition of the programme is not expected until 2025.
