Lizzo’s dressmaker’s sexual harassment complaint dismissed

A judge has dismissed the sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuit filed by Lizzo’s former dressmaker, considering the events that occurred as “part of the ordinary travails of the workplace.”

The complaint was originally filed in 2023, a month after three dancers reported the singer for sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. Asha Daniels alleged that Lizzo had subjected her to “bullying” and sexual and racial harassment.

«Today I am relieved to announce that I have won the case against myself and my touring company. “All the ridiculous statements from a wardrobe assistant who worked on the tour for less than 3 weeks, including the one who said she broke a nail, have been dismissed,” Lizzo wrote in a new video.

Daniels mentioned “lewd gestures” and sexual jokes to co-workers, such as “penis-shaped candy,” among Lizzo’s acts. The judge described the events as “inappropriate and unprofessional” but not as intended to “demonstrate general hostility toward women in the workplace or unequal treatment between men and women.”

“Everything was very shocking because I was being reported by a person who had never met me,” Lizzo shared. Accusations of racial discrimination that Daniels had leveled at his boss, Amanda Nomura, have also been dismissed after “no evidence” was found.
