Peter Gabriel will release his new album ‘I/O’ on December 1st. The album, the first studio album in 21 years, since they are the ones that have passed since ‘Up’ (2002), will include all the singles that have been released throughout 2023. There have been many, since one came with each moon full.
Brian Eno, Richard Russell, guitarist David Rhodes, bassist Tony Levin, drummer Manu Katché and pianist Tom Cawley, among others, have collaborated on this work. The album is double because on the one hand it includes Mark “Spike” Stent’s “Bright-Side” mixes and then Chad Blake’s “Dark-Side” mixes. In fact, there is also a triple edition with a Dolby Atoms mix, made by Hans-Martin Buff.
Peter Gabriel defines mixing as follows, boasting some of the best mixers in the world. “Tchad is like a sculptor building a journey with sound and drama, Spike likes sound and assembling these images, he is more like a painter.”
The differences have been noticeable in recent months, when the different mixes of songs such as ‘Panopticom’, ‘The Court’, etc. have been revealed. The 2 mixes of up to 10 songs from the album have been revealed, in order. Of course, there are those who have compiled them on Spotify and we leave you with one of those playlists.
