This weekend, Lily Allen starred in two great shows at the O2 in London on the occasion of the ‘West End Girl’ tour. The British artist has been forced to use her X account to deny a user’s criticism of her concert.
User Rupert Hawksley, who claims that Allen’s show did not have “any opening act”, says that the artist appeared on stage around 9:10 p.m. and the concert ended at 10:00 p.m. According to his account, Allen did not say a word to the audience, whom he had charged £86 for the best seats. Hawksley himself clarifies that “obviously” his message is written in a negative way and clarifies that “the performance was brilliant.”
Lily addresses each point one at a time. This begins by saying that yes “there are opening acts” and that “the show has always been described as ‘Lily Allen performs West End Girl'”: “The show lasts an hour, since it is just the entire album,” she explains. Regarding the start time, the artist confesses that she arrived a few minutes late because she had torn her stockings and “had to change them.”
Indeed, Allen does not speak to the audience on this tour, which he defends as an “artistic decision”: “The fourth wall helps with the narrative and most people find it effective,” he comments. Finally, she assures that her last intention is for someone to feel “ripped off” by a concert of hers: “Everyone on this tour is working very hard to give people the best show possible and I am extremely proud of it,” she concludes.
There is a support act.
The show has always been advertised as “Lily Allen performs West End Girl.”
I was a few mins late as my tights were laddered and I had to change them.
The show is just over an hour as it’s just the album in its entirety.
It’s my artistic choice not… https://t.co/6qmrixFHXT

I’d happily concede that I’m a bit weird, though. https://t.co/uCR7bXFe3i
