The expected one has just seen the light “Like Someone I Know”the new album that pays tribute to Margo Guryan and in which we find artists like Clairo either Empress Of, inter alia.
“Like Someone I Know: A Celebration Of Margo Guryan” is exactly what its name suggests, a compilation of twelve songs reinterpreted by contemporary artists in homage to the iconic album “Take A Picture” of Margo Guryanreleased in 1968 and which later gained a lot of popularity in the independent music scene when it was reissued, which led to the artist being rediscovered by new generations. This album celebrates the composer, who died in 2021, and seeks to keep her music alive through new current names.
Among the artists contributing to this tribute are Clairo, Empress Of, Margo Price, Frankie Cosmos, Bedouine, Kate Bollinger and June McDoomamong others. Each of them brings their own style to the songs of Guryandemonstrating the relevance and timelessness of his work.
The launch coincides with the third anniversary of the death of Guryan and has a charitable purpose, as part of the proceeds will go to promoting accessibility to affordable reproductive health services in the United States. The production of the album was carried out by Izzy Fradin and Jonathan Rosner.
