Among the news of the week, a song called ‘Let it not happen to us like Los Javis’, which is called to be L Kan’s new hit, draws attention. The synth-pop group has been characterized since the 2000s by delivering casual, traditional and very illustrative songs from its very title. Among others, we can talk about ‘Everything for pleasure’, ‘Oh Marie Kondo’ or ‘Bored of being out’. Songs that paved the way for such successful projects as Ojete Calor or Las Bistecs.
‘Let it not happen to us like Los Javis’ is born from the trauma that the breakup of Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi has meant for pop culture, about which the latter spoke a few days ago in La Revuelta. How long will they last working together?
L Kan understands very well the terror of combining work with personal life because it also contains a couple in its lineup: co-leader Belén and keyboardist Luis, both well-known in the scene for the Ochoymedio club that they share with DJ Smart. Belén and Luis are in fact the sole authors of the song.
Olav is then, as always, the one who voices this song along with Belén, expressing in a humorous way concerns such as “that love will end and we will only be left with work.” There is also a mention of actress Anna Castillo.
Musically, ‘Let it not happen to us like Los Javis’ manages to be a fun, very identifiable song by L Kan, with synths borrowed from Kraftwerk and OMD that perform instrumental riffs, the usual ones in the 80s. The soundtrack of ‘Ghostbusters’ and Yazoo’s ‘Don’t Go’ could be a reference in the production of the song, by Luis García Morais himself.
