Lenny Kravitz, celibate for 20 years for spiritual reasons

In a new interview with The Guardian, Lenny Kravitz has spoken about the vow of celibacy he took 20 years ago, in 2005. The 'Fly Away' singer assured that he will continue to keep his promise until he finds his soulmate.

The origin of the promise is deeper than anyone would expect. This dates back to the infidelities of Kravitz's father, who told the artist that he would follow his same path in relationships. “He was right,” says Kravitz, who was married to actress Lisa Bonet from 1987 to 1993. “I didn't want to become that guy, so I faced it and it took years,” Kravitz continued.

When she first took her vows, she declared it was “a promise until I get married.” Almost 20 years later, she continues to fulfill her pact. Kravitz's last serious relationship was 9 years ago, so he has been celibate since then. One of the loudest reactions to the singer and actor's confession has been that of rapper Ice-T, who does not understand Kravitz's decision: “This shit is very strange… I like to fuck. A lot”.
