Laurie Anderson returns to activity after six years without news. The August 30th will publish “Amelia”a twenty-two-song album with a long list of guests. Now he releases “India And On Down To Australia” with guest vocals from ANOHNI.
“Amelia” It will be Laurie Anderson’s first album in six years, following the release of “Landfall” In 2018, it will be released by Nonesuch and will consist of twenty-two tracks in which we will find a long list of guests. So far we have already been able to listen to “Road To Mandalay” and now this “India And On Down To Australia”. The highly respected guitarist Marc Ribot and ANOHNIof whom we remember Anderson and her late husband Lou Reed They were top supporters for years.
As can be seen from a simple reading of the two titles released, the songs reflect part of a journey, from which the aviator’s tragic final trip Amelia Earhartwhich the album pays homage to. Earhart was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic in 1932. Five years later she embarked on an ambitious round-the-world flight, but her plane disappeared without a trace.
Anderson composed all the songs and recorded the album with the Czech Orchestra Filharmonie Brnodirected by Dennis Russell DaviesBut before we talked about many collaborations, and there are those that we will find on the album, both with regard to instrumentalists and vocalists: ANOHNI, Gabriel Cabezas, Rob Moose, Ryan Kelly, Martha Mooke, Marc Ribot, Tony Scherr, Nadia Sirota and Kenny Wolleson.
