Lady Gaga’s “chromatic” symbology in ‘Abracadabra’

Abracadabra and … voilà!: We are in 2010. With ‘Alejandro’, with ‘Bad romance’ … like a spell (or cheap trick, according to who looks at it), ‘hugging’ transports us 15 years ago, when Lady Gaga “lo Petaba ”(for using an expression very of that time) with its iconic video clips full of extravagant and striking choreographies.

Revival or refrito? ‘Abracadabra’ recovers the aesthetics ‘The Fame Monster’ in a clip whose potential potion is well known, as a traditional stew, without secret ingredients: chromatic symbolism (immaculate white, luciferine red and dark black), choreographies as a vehicle of dramatic expression and Costume with very colorful designs.

From a thematic point of view, the video recovers the spirit of fairy tales ‘The red shoes’, by Hans Christian Andersen, and the rhetoric of good against evil as a metaphor of the inner struggle. The red gaga as a malignant sorceress that, from its pulpit and through the spell “dance or death”, launches a curse that forces the world to “dance or die.” A spell that will try to break the white gaga shouting and with a casual crucifix in the chest.
