La Oreja de Van Gogh has denied the rumour of a supposed reunion with Amaia Montero for a summer tour. In statements to El Periódico de España, Pablo Benegas, the band’s guitarist, has clarified that this reunion is not going to happen. “The relationship is good, but it wouldn’t make sense. It has a very commercial aspect and we are not into that. We want to continue writing songs. It is becoming more difficult for us, looking for the best words and melodies. It is our main driving force.”
The rumour came from information spread by journalist Isabel Rábago on the Telemadrid programme Juntos, which had been echoed by other media such as La Vanguardia and Los 40 Principales.
«The great news that this programme has been able to learn is that (Amaia Montero) is back with La Oreja de Van Gogh», declared Rábago in the programme. «I think it’s amazing news and it’s not just that she’s reuniting with them to party. No, she’s going to start a tour and we’re all going to be able to enjoy her on stage. Above all, seeing her well, seeing the whole group backing her up. And above all, how much fun we’re going to have this summer».
Rábago was referring to a supposed summer tour of La Oreja de Van Gogh with Amaia Montero. However, La Oreja is already on a summer tour that will take place during the months of June, July and August. The last date of the tour is September 20, the end of summer.
La Oreja has not posted any content on Twitter for days, but coincidentally this past Friday they did. Specifically, the group uploaded a photo of its five members posing together before performing in Valladolid, dispelling rumours of a reunion with Amaia Montero. «A few minutes before leaving the Conexión Valladolid festival with one eye on the sky because it’s raining. The clouds can move away now because we’re leaving.»

Amaia Montero left La Oreja de Van Gogh in 2007 to start her solo career. In 2008, Leire Martínez, the current vocalist, joined La Oreja. Together with Leire, La Oreja continues to tour this summer and will soon perform at Río Babel sharing the bill with Amaral.
Is Amaia Montero returning to La Oreja de Van Gogh? 😮
According to the Telemadrid program “Juntos” he would be returning to the group.
