The Liverpool duo King Hannah –made up of Hannah Merrick and Craig Whittle– release new single: “Davey Says”, the second song taken from his next album “Big Swimmer”. In addition, they announce a tour for this year.
The next album King Hannah, “Big Swimmer”is inspired by the time the band has spent on the road in recent years across the United States, opening for Kurt Vile and Thurston Moore. “Davey Says” is the second preview after the album's title track, “Big Swimmer”which included the voice of special guest Sharon Van Etten. “We wanted it to be a happy, light-hearted moment on the album, but still have that feeling of youcandoanything-ness. The opening phrase 'Meet me before the party, I don't want to go in alone' is our attempt to evoke classic '90s American imagery, the nostalgia and romance of coming of age, the warm summer nights when the future opens up before you.”
The release of this second song and preview is accompanied by a video clip directed by the same member of the band. Craig Whittle. The video is a tribute to the videos of garage rock bands in the nineties. The sense of coming-of-age nostalgia is compounded by the use of an old camcorder to capture the most dynamic parts of the video, recalling home movies and the long, endless days of band rehearsals in your parents' garage.
