Kim Petras eats her label in the cunty ‘Need For Speed’

The last news we had about Kim Petras was that she had asked to leave her record label, Republic Records, after being “tired of not having control” over her life and career. In ‘Need For Speed’, his last song, there is no trace of the label in the credits, so we can think that he has achieved it. Both the video and the song are also deliciously ‘cunty’.

‘Need For Speed’, the fourth single from Petras’ upcoming album, is not only tremendously catchy from the first listen. It’s the reason we love pop. The production by Nightfeelings, Margo

“I play Pink Sugar, I hurry up, I have to go / My label screaming in my ear,” is heard at the beginning of the second verse, with the consecutive lines being even more poignant. “Because they love money and they want it now / And they love it when I don’t have a boyfriend in my life,” she sings.

The video reaches another level. This begins with flashes of a descending chart titled “Kim Petras’ Music Career.” From this beginning, the tone for the entire clip is set. The best part of this one is the first half, where Petras is told by her label that she needs to do a promotion with some brand because she’s “broke.”

Then, the video becomes just this, without half measures, with the artist shamelessly promoting real brands. Mistr, Yerba Madre, Haribo… are some of them. Even so, the record company is not satisfied: “You still owe us money from your latest video clip.”
