A bad and a good news in the world of K-Pop. The bad is that NJZ -the band previously known as Newjaans -has announced the suspension of its musical activities after a South Korean court has failed in favor of Ador, its agency, which they accuse of abuse, determining that the ‘Super Shy’ band cannot continue its musical career independently.
NJZ has announced, during a show in Hong Kong, that this will be “his last concert in a long time.” The group has released a new live theme, ‘Pit Stop’, a piece of drum n ‘bass that nobody knows if it will officially launch one day.
NJZ retreat is dramatic: it is the best K-Pop band with a lot of difference. However, the good news is that a new Girl Group has emerged and can take NJZ the relief of musical concern. And it has an equally absurd name: Kiiikiii.
Kiiikiii is a quintet created by Starship Entertaiment, one of the five main K-Pop agencies, and in 2025 he has launched his first single, the Synth-Pop ‘i do me’. As usual, the influence of the Anglo -Saxon pop (in all its variants) soaks the sound of Kiiikiii and in their debut EP, the members Ji Yu, Lee Sol, their I, has UM and Kya explore different styles and rhythms, taking advantage of the fact that they all perform the roles of singers, rappers and dancers.
The approach is experimental from the first cut of ‘Uncut Gem’, which is titled without major mystery ‘debut song’ and mix urban beats and flutes. Then, ‘Groundwork’ makes good use of noise and distortion looking like a song by The Go! Team. And when Kiiikiii hardens hip-hop rhythms, these can be as attractive as those of ‘There Go’. They are involved in the EP Anglo -Saxon producers such as Dem Jointz or Vaughn Oliver, but also the Sucoreano Ryan S. Jhun, all tieding ends.
The star theme of ‘Uncut Gem’ can be ‘BTG’, one of those pop -mutant productions today. It is the song of the day for Tuesday.
‘BGT’ (acronym for “Been there girl”) passes from the Jersey Club to the British Bass and the hip-hop and arrives truffled hooks. Among the composers who make sure that ‘BTG’ is an optimal product is Jack Brady, who has worked with Jisoo or Nmixx, and surely he is among those responsible for ‘BTG’ to include one of those bridges that raise a song. “Kill it, fit in, kiiikiii winnin ‘” is clearly the motto of the song.
