While ‘The One That Got Away’ is playing loudly again 16 years later thanks to TikTok – be careful, it has already been 4 global -, and ‘Legendary Lovers’ is also experiencing a small vindication, Katy Perry has spoken for the first time with a media outlet about her relationship with Justin Trudeau.
In an interview with People, Perry explains that she met the former Canadian prime minister during her Lifetimes Tour and that afterward “things changed.” The singer claims that last August she wrote a wish list whose last item simply said “True Love.” “And I think that’s where we are,” he says. Perry says that Trudeau is “the love of my life.”
Perry says that Trudeau has accompanied her for much of the tour and that he was present at 10 of her last 20 concerts. “He knows the lyrics, he supports me and he is amazed,” he explains. For her, his presence has been “very healing.” He also highlights that he is a “really heartfelt” person and that he feels that we both “connect in that sense.”
The initially unlikely couple made their relationship public last October, when they appeared together in Paris for Perry’s birthday, and made their red carpet debut in June, at the Tribeca Festival. Until now, Perry had shared numerous images with Trudeau, but this is the first time he has openly talked about the relationship with a media outlet.
Perry says that he had always wanted “that epic love” and that he felt that it was the missing piece in his life. Now she seems willing to also turn this new stage into creative material: “I’m living to be able to write about it.” Is Katy Perry’s ‘Golden Hour’ coming?
