Katy Perry confirms that she has new music on the way

The music industry is preparing for a very interesting musical year. In addition to the announced new music from Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa and Kacey Musgraves, and the rumored returns of Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez and Lorde, a new name joins the party: Katy Perry, who just confirmed the imminent release of new music.

«I have some things planned for this year. It’s going to be a very, very exciting year for all the pop star girls,” Katy Perry confessed in an interview for Jimmy Kimmel in which she revealed that she was leaving Idol Kids, the talent show in which she has been a judge for seven seasons. “I’m creating space for my new journey… I want to go see the world and maybe bring new music,” the singer said with a laugh.

The truth is that, a few months ago, a close source contacted The Sun to claim that Katy Perry has been working on new music for two years. The artist hasn’t released a new album since ‘Smile’ in 2020, and she’s been focused on her Las Vegas residency ‘Play’ since 2021 (which ended with a mysterious message alluding to 2024). That same source also announced that Katy Perry plans to embark on a world tour, hoping to kick off in late 2024 or early 2025, so new music should arrive sooner.

Now, in her interview for Kimmy Kimmel, Katy Perry confesses that she has “been spending a lot of time in the studio.” It is her most forceful confirmation of the arrival of new music after many clues about it, such as her change of profile photo (an increasingly typical movement in pop culture to usher in a new stage) or the cryptic messages from her. What ace will he have up his sleeve for her return?
