Katy Perry and Doechii release their single this Friday

Katy Perry has officially announced ‘I’m His, He’s Mine’, the third single from her upcoming studio album, ‘143’. ‘I’m His, He’s Mine’ features two main drawcards: first, a collaboration with rapper Doechii and second, a sample of Crystal Waters’ ‘Gypsy Woman’. It’s out this Friday, September 12.

The day before, on the 11th, that is, this Wednesday, Katy Perry will present her new album at the MTV Video Music Awards; Perry is the artist honored this year with the Vanguard Award for her videography.

Two advance singles from ‘143’ have already been released, ‘Woman’s World’ and ‘Lifetimes’. ‘I’m His, He’s Mine’ is fourth in the album’s charts and its music video is rumoured to have been shot in Barcelona. ‘143’ is due out on 20 September.

Katy has been in the news these days for responding to criticism she has received for her collaboration with Dr. Luke on her new album. In her view, Dr. Luke is just “one of many collaborators” who have helped her materialize her vision in this new era.

For her part, Doechii – alias of rapper Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon – has recently made waves with singles such as ‘What is It’ and ‘Nissan Altima’. Her new album, ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’, which is considered a mixtape, has just been released and, curiously, Flea, a member of Red Hot Chili Peppers, has said that he “can’t stop listening to it.”
