KATSEYE continue playing the game with ‘Hootie Frutti’

You have to give KATSEYE credit for firmly believing in her proposal despite what the critics say. You can’t blame them when their singles do so well on the charts. The problem is that no one knows how to determine if their music is an epic troll, a product of the brainrot of our time, truly good or simply bad and expendable.

His new music may not dispel doubts. Their new single, ‘Hootie Frutti’, is once again a trail of hooky phrases designed for TikTok, the repetition of the title ad nauseam being the main hook, while the instrumental base recreates the forcefulness of EDM from bygone eras. The truth is that it may be their most club-oriented song, although it lacks the avant-garde of ‘Gnarly’ or the good taste of ‘Gameboy’.

Previously, ‘Animal’ was released, which has become a hit and remains strong in Spotify’s global top 20. The style is radically different, since it uses a much kinder, friendlier and pinker retro pop sound, in addition to the participation of Ed Sheeran, one of the authors. It’s medium: like an inferior version of ‘APT’ by Bruno Mars and Rosé. Both songs, along with the indescribable ‘PINKY UP’, are part of the ‘WILD’ EP, which is released today.

Meanwhile, in the last week the departure of member Sophia Laforteza for mental health reasons was announced, months after Manon was the first to leave. They have gone from six to four, although at the moment there are five that appear on the cover of the EP and in the video clips.
