Karol G makes a splash of spite, but healthy

Karol G has opened the summer with ‘If Before You Had Known’, which has every chance of becoming one of the songs of the season.

Produced by Karol herself, Sky Rompiendo and Edgar Barrera, winner of 21 Latin Grammys and 1 Grammy, ‘If Before You Had Known’ aims to transport you to the Caribbean with a nostalgic merengue rhythm that can be used both to sing it out loud at karaoke and to dance it in the center of the dance floor.

Over a gentle melody that sounds like pure sunshine, the Colombian sings about a love that could never be: «What would have been? / If I had met you before / Surely you would be dancing this one with me. The author of ‘Tomorrow Will Be Bonito’ puts her characteristic touch in the healthy twist of the lyrics. Here Bichota does not wish the worst for anyone’s girlfriend, but rather she admits that she “makes me jealous” and that she “she is beautiful.”

In fact, after listing all the things in which she surpasses her desired boy’s partner, she realizes that she doesn’t mind sharing: “With this desire that I have / I dare to eat them both.” First of all, good vibes.

In the video clip, naturally set in the Dominican Republic, Karol G plays the typical waitress who has to be dragged out to sing, but who actually has an angelic voice. A classic that never fails.
