Kanye West has postponed the concert he was going to offer in Marseille on June 11, due to the possible ban on his entry into the country. This is what he announced on his X account: “After much reflection, I have decided to postpone my concert in Marseille until further notice.”
«I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to correct my mistakes. I take full responsibility for my part, but I don’t want to involve my fans in this. My fans are everything to me. See you on top of the world,” he wrote in the publication.
After being banned from the United Kingdom, this Tuesday the news emerged that the same thing could happen to Kanye West in France. According to AFP (Agence France-Presse) and ABC, which cites a source close to the French Interior Minister, he is willing to prevent West from performing in Marseille next June due to his anti-Semitic comments.
Laurent Nunez, Minister of the Interior, would be “very determined” to prohibit the artist’s entry into the country on the occasion of the concert scheduled for June 11. This would be considering “all possibilities”, according to the AFP source. The minister would have already had conversations with Benoit Payan, mayor of Marseille, on the subject last week.
Payan already declared last month that he was totally against the Kanye West concert, stating that he did not want to “allow Marseille to become a showcase for those who promote hate.” On the other hand, Bart van den Brink, Dutch Minister of Asylum and Migration, assured last week that there were no plans to prohibit West’s entry into the Netherlands.
