Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Vultures’ postponed to New Year’s

This weekend some of you may have noticed that an album has not come out as announced. The release of ‘Vultures’, the new joint album by Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, was scheduled to come out on Friday, December 15, but only crickets have been heard. Kanye, known for giving release dates and then not meeting them, or for releasing albums and modifying their content after the fact, has done his thing again, or so it seems. Ty Dolla, of course, has earned the benefit of the doubt.

But the album will come out. Billboard shares that the new date for ‘Vultures’ is December 31, New Year’s Day. ‘Vultures’ will therefore officially be the first major album release of 2024, whether it comes out before midnight, which is unlikely, or after. If it comes out, of course.

‘Vultures’ has been the talk of the town in recent weeks for several reasons. Kanye has presented him at a listening party wearing clothes very similar to those of the Ku Kux Klan. There are apparently unauthorized samples on the album, one of them from Backstreet Boys. On the other hand, the collaboration with Nicki Minaj, ‘New Body’, will not finally see the light of day.

Nicki confirmed her decision not to authorize the release of ‘New Body’ during a recent stream. «As for the Kanye thing: the train has passed. With all due respect I say it, but I just released a brand new album, why would I release a song that has been leaked for three years? Kanye has responded sharply to Minaj’s words, stating that “I made that girl rewrite the ‘Monster’ verse three times,” referring to the rapper’s highest-rated verse; and she added that he has “supported her career.”

The only officially released trailer for ‘Vultures’ is the title track, a collaboration with Chicago rapper Bump J.
