Kali Uchis has begun the promotional campaign of ‘Sincerely,’, his new album, with the launch of a first advance. ‘Sunshine & Rain …’ is the first sample of this work that will be put on sale on May 9 and that supposes Uchis’s debut in Capitol Records. His two previous works, ‘Red Moon in Venus’ (2023) and ‘Orchids’ (2024), had been launched through Geffen Records.
‘Sunshine & Rain …’ is a devout song by Kali Uchis, the promise that makes the loved one, to which he will take care of “good the bad ones”, or “to the hard ones or the mature ones”, or “pass whatever happens” or, literally, “make sun or rain.” The message is understood.
Notes ‘Sunshine & Rain …’, on the other hand, that Kali Uchis is still a great balladist. Everything is in its place in the fantasy production that Kali has designed with Dylan Wiggins, and the melody of the chorus is again romantic to no more, especially when he plays the sky: “We all need someone who makes us feel that the earth is the sky, perhaps I am that person, because you are for me,” the artist sings, in love with the trancas.
Kali floats in his personal life, among other things, surely because he has just been the mother of his first baby with singer Don Toliver, with whom he shares the song ‘Fantasy’, among others. The surround sound of ‘Sunshine & Rain …’, in accordance, transmits a feeling of calm and refuge at home.
‘Sincerely,’ is raised as a “collection of letters that Kali Uchis writes to the world”, and is described as an “ethereal, elusive and as another world” and as an “act of catharsis.” This is how ‘Sunshine & Rain …’ and also that lost single, ‘Never Be Yours’, recovered from an old topic, which is not known if it will be part of this work.
