Is 2024 the year of the 2007 revival? Or is it just a coincidence that Gossip, Cansei de Ser Sexy, who have just announced their first tour in the United States in 11 years, are returning at the same time; MGMT and Justice? Will Bonde do Role be next? Bloc Party releasing a good album?
Justice also come back inspired. Their new album, ‘Hyperdrama’, comes out on April 26, and in the first preview they are accompanied by Tame Impala on vocals. ‘One Night/All Night’ sounds exactly what you’d expect a collaboration between Justice and Tame Impala to sound like, in a good way.
‘One Night/All Night’ is a new electro fantasy by Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Augé. Forceful in its mix of electronica and disco music, alternating between both influences throughout the recording, it is the most representative song of ‘Hyperdrama’ according to its authors. Kevin Parker surfs the galaxy of ‘One Night / All Night’ with his recognizable falsetto.
The video for ‘One Night/All Night’, today’s Song Of The Day, proposes another journey, this time inside the cross that represents the iconic Justice logo. An “experimental” and “strange” journey according to its director, Anton Tommi, known for directing the video for ‘Blinding Lights’.
‘One Night/All Night’ is not the only preview of ‘Hyperdrama’ available. Justice have also released ‘Generator’, a song influenced, they say, by the 70’s classic ‘Getaway’ by Salsoul Orchestra “but that adds gabber and typical 90’s hardcore techno sounds.” Long teeth.
