Juanjo Bona offers a Pop-Punk Naif next to Hate Confeti

Just when Happy Confeti has announced his dissolution, his leader, the Madrid singer and author Lucas de Laiglesia, appears accredited as a composer in ‘Thus I am now’, the new single by Juanjo Bona, former contestant of Operation Triunfo 2023.

Bona has published this year an absolutely recommended album, ‘Recardelino’ (2025), influenced by the folk music of Aragon, his land. Magallón, his people, is summoned in the letters, and reappears in ‘Thus I am now’, an issue about the desire of the home. In his house, Bona Cuisine Migas, “Charra” with his grandparents and forgets the problems.

The connection of ‘Thus I am now’ with Magallón is consistent with the repertoire of Juanjo Bona. His love for earth is an issue that had already explored in ‘Mis aunts’ or in the beautiful ‘Moncayo’.

Then, it is true that some rhymes sound excessively naif, both because of their literalness (“here I felt a lot of terror, they also gave me a lot of love”) and for their use of colloquial expressions (“what I want most, is that you do not make me another ugly”).

The phrase “What I want is to stay in Magallón” concludes every chorus knowing Jingle advertising. To this appreciation contributes the musical style: ‘I am now’ is a soft pop-Punk that hate confetti would have become a hymn of his famous lyrical patetism. Maybe he would have more claw in his voice.

Bona, who currently competes at ‘Masterchef Celebrity’, continues his theaters tour: his next performance is October 10 in Salamanca.
