Just two months after the death of Ciriaco “Fucking Peach” Quezadadies as a result of a heart attack John the Witchleader of Witchcrafta sort of metal and punk supergroup that has featured some of the genre’s greatest performers.
Since the project was born in the late eighties, Brujería has been for years a kind of musical family of which musicians such as Dino Cazares and Raymond Herrera (Fear Factory), Shane Embury (Napalm Death), Billy Gould (Faith No More) either Jeff Walker (Carcass)to name a few. Their combination of metal, punk and lyrics that championed Latin pride, Satanism and other themes with which they have always sought to provoke and generate debate in their own way, has kept them active to this day. In 2023 they released their latest album to date, “This is Witchcraft”and with which they have been touring around the world.
The news has been confirmed by the band’s own social media accounts. Their statement confirms that Brujo has passed away as a result of a heart attack he suffered earlier this week. At sixty-one years of age, the vocalist had just taken a day off from his “Mexorcista” tour, which they were currently immersed in. Apparently, Juan Brujo, sixty-one years old, was rushed to a hospital in Wheeling (West Virginia), but the medical team could do nothing to save his life.
The news is especially relevant since, just two months ago, the co-vocalist and sampler manager passed away. Ciriaco “Fucking Peach” Quezada at the age of fifty-seven. The group was to begin a new tour in January of next year with Carcassalthough after the death of its leader, Juan Brujo, its future remains in suspense and we will have to wait for news about it.
