According to various American digital media and television channels, Josh Klinghoffer, guitarist for Red Hot Chili Peppers for years in place of John Frusciante and later a solo artist, extra member of Pearl Jam and occasionally of Jane’s Addiction, has been sued for wrongful death for killing a forty-seven-year-old pedestrian named Israel Sánchez when Klinghoffer was distracted looking at his mobile phone.

The fatal accident occurred in the Californian town of Alhambra on March 18, but it was not revealed until the family of the deceased filed a complaint against the musician. The pedestrian died hours later due to the injuries he sustained in the accident.

On the other hand, the musician’s lawyer has stated that Klinghoffer immediately got out of the car after the accident, called the police and remained at the scene until the police and the ambulance told him he could leave. As for the representative of Sánchez’s family, he has told the media that the family has a video in which Klinghoffer is seen absent-mindedly looking at his phone at the time of the accident.
