Joni Mitchell will perform at the Grammys for the first time

Joni Mitchell is one of the artists who will perform at the 2024 Grammy ceremony, which will be held on February 4. Mitchell’s confirmation is historic, since the author of ‘Blue’ has never performed at the Grammy ceremony: this will be her first time. Mitchell has received 10 gold gramophones during her career, including an honorary one in 2002.

Mitchell, who just turned 80, is confirmed at the Grammys because she is nominated in the Best Folk Album category, with ‘Joni Mitchell at Newport (Live)’. Mitchell won her last Grammy in 2022 for ‘Joni Mitchell Archives – Vol. 1: The Early Years (1963–1967)’, in the Best Historical Album category. Mitchell accepted the Grammy in person.

In recent years, Mitchell has been taking his first steps into public life after suffering a brain aneurysm in 2015. In 2022, months after collecting his last Grammy, Mitchell gave his first concert since 2000, at Newport Music Festival. Following her, in 2023, Mitchell gave her first headlining concert in 23 years, at Washington’s Gorge Amphitheater.

Mitchell, who hasn’t released a studio album since ‘Shine’ hit the market in 2007, is pulling the strings on his latest releases. ‘Joni Mitchell Archives – Vol. 2: The Reprise Years (1968–1971)’ and ‘Joni Mitchell Archives – Vol. 3: The Asylum Years (1972–1975)’ have hit stores in recent times, among other similar releases .

In addition to Mitchell, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, U2, Dua Lipa, Burna Boy, Luke Combs, Travis Scott and Billy Joel will perform at the Grammy gala.
