John Cale has announced a reissue of his second and third solo albums: ‘The Academy in Peril’ (1972) and ‘Paris 1919’ (1973). Both projects will be available on vinyl, CD and streaming platforms on November 15.
“Revisiting past work is a double-edged sword for me,” Cale said in a statement. However, he clarified that “it’s bound to happen when you’ve been making music for 60 years.”
The deluxe edition of ‘Paris 1919’, which was our retro Album of the Week, includes a previously unreleased audio tape, a new mix of ‘Hanky Panky Nohow’, outtakes and a new song called ‘Fever Dream 2024: You’re a Ghost’. Meanwhile, the remastered edition of ‘The Academy in Peril’ includes the bonus track ‘Temper’.
