“Jódete, Skrillex, you think you are Andy Warhol, but no”

Skrillex has released an album by surprise in which he partially returns to the Dubstep, the genre that made him famous worldwide. However, the best is the title: ‘Fuck u Skrillex You Think U andy Warhol But Ur Not !!’. This includes the collaborations of Jónsi (Sigur Rós) and Dylan Brady (100 GECS), among others.

The new album of the American artist is composed of 34 songs, but only lasts 46 minutes. The reason is that all the songs last 1 minute or less, with some exceptions that exceed 2 minutes. If we calculate the percentages, surely one third or more of the Sean Drops project.

The album cover is simple, but extremely effective. It is a photograph of a street graffiti in which the title of the album is read. Most likely, it is not so, but it is fun to think that Skrillex himself found that down the street and decided to be the title of his new album.

Musically, this is practically an exercise of deconstruction of the Dubstep. The usual dropps, but with a more mature and stylized result. In this way, the initial theme, ‘Skrillex Is Dead’, feels the tone of the entire project. “HE LEFT AS THE WORLD FELL INTO CHAOS AND WALKED INTO THE LIGHTS,” recites Shadoe Haze, the iconic voice behind tags like “Damn are where’d you find This?” or «trap-a-Holics Mixtape».

Skrillex had a busy year in 2023, launching two projects in two consecutive days. The first was ‘Quest For Fire’, which had collaborations from artists such as Fred Again … or Missy Elliott, while the second, ‘Don’s Get Too Close’, had Justin Bieber and Pinkpantheress, among others.
