Jisoo is the Blackpink member who is taking more calm that of throwing his own music. At the moment, their first EP, ‘Amortege’, has been released this Friday, while their companions Rosé, Lisa and Jennie have already published, or are about to publish, their first long records. Rosé’s can be heard since December; Lisa and Jennie arrive in the coming weeks.
Of the members of Blackpink, Jisoo’s may be the most pop proposal of all, although the songs of ‘Amortage’ do not hit any blow on the table. Rather, discards from other artists discovered by Warner Records in a drawer, by chance.
‘Earthquake’, the main single, is the typical written composition by spinning hooks, to pieces, in the style of current pop, but those hooks are not necessarily powerful. Its electropop production reminds the last Kylie Minogue, but ‘Earthquake’ covers too much in a short time. Of course, do not miss your video clip, a blockbuster of height.
The rest of the ‘amortage’ songs fall even more in general. For good in ‘Your Love’, a mona composition stylized in the sound of Electropop Scandinavo that is missing so much. And for worse in ‘Tears’, which falls short in its ambition to sound to the Katy Perry of ‘Teenage Dream’ (2010). ‘Hugs & Kisses’, the final track, raises a similar sound, equally outdated.
The launch of ‘amortage’ especially serves to 1) begin to raise the sound of Jisoo, very focused on Anglo -Saxon pop and 2) gather in their credits a group of unknown composers, such as Violet Skies, Dick Brady or Chloe Copoloff, which They will thank Warner Records for the opportunity to enrich their respective curriculum thanks to their contributions in this epé.
