Jimena Amarillo is “butch or faggot” in ‘Flow deskiciada’

Among the artists releasing new music this week is Jimena Amarillo. ‘Flow deskiciada’ is their second single of 2024 and follows ‘Sueño’, released in June.

‘Flow deskiciada’ is added to Jimena Amarillo’s list of electronic songs, like ‘Fino como un afiler’. Although the guitars of ‘Flow deskiciada’ point to the bedroom-pop of ‘Cafeliko’, in this own production – in which Alba Arias participates – the energy of an electronic beat and the presence of voices altered in various ways rule. It’s today’s Song Of The Day.

In the lyrical aspect there is a mixture of styles or perspectives. The chorus, which raises the theme of the song, seems inspired by the Andalusian couplet: “A handful of flowers / Oh, I brought her / Linda, she has everything / She doesn’t love me.” Amarillo seems to be “pimped with a Granada accent.”

But the good thing is in the stanzas, because Amarillo does not shy away from inferring his particular humor to them. In the first stanza he describes that the girl he likes has “bangs that measure a millimeter” and that she “looks Basque” and wears a “freak pike.” And in the second, Yellow is the subject of another person’s analysis, who looks at him “every day” and doesn’t know if he is “butch or faggot.” Or “a 13-year-old boy.”

Anyone who does not live on the internet will probably not understand phrases from ‘Flow deskiciada’ such as “Entire leopard feed is my thing” that only a young person (and permanently online) could have signed in 2024. A free language, like free, 100% Jimena Amarillo, it’s this song.
