Jessie J has revealed in an Instagram post that she has been diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She reveals that the symptoms became more noticeable after becoming a mother.
The singer has explained everything in an Instagram post, sharing that although the news has been “comforting” she has felt that she could not talk about it in public. “It’s strange when you know that all your life you have been different and you have felt things differently and finally one day, when you least expect it, someone explains why and you can’t help it,” says the singer.
After discussing the “broad spectrum” of ADHD, Jessie J describes the disorder as a “superpower, as long as you look at it from the right perspective and have the support of the people around you.” While ADHD affects a person’s behavior and concentration, making them seem impulsive or restless, OCD is a mental health condition in which a person has obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that often interfere with their life.
The ‘Price Tag’ singer also shared that the diagnosis has made her rethink “my whole life”: “The way I’ve been, the way I deal with things, my relationships, how I work and how I love.” Jessie J ends the statement on a positive note, saying that this has made her “love myself even more.”
