2024 will not be remembered as the best year for Jennifer Lopez. If in spring she had to cancel her tour for personal reasons, amid rumors of lower-than-expected ticket sales – in May she said she needed to be with her family – now the news of her divorce from Ben Affleck is known.
The official date of the separation is April 26, 2024 in the documents, although said documentation was presented on August 20. A date loaded with symbolism since it is the 2nd anniversary of their wedding. This was announced to the world by the joke site TMZ and later confirmed by media such as Billboard.
TMZ claims that it was Jennifer Lopez herself, without her lawyers, who filed for divorce, and that there was no prenuptial agreement despite the fact that they have been married for six years.
Bennifer met in 2002 during the filming of the movie ‘Gigli’, got engaged in 2003, postponed the wedding and finally broke up in 2004 due to media pressure. In August 2022 they finally married after almost 20 years apart, and have now divorced. We will see if now that recent album-film wrapped in wedding imagery called ‘This Is Me… Now’ is re-signified, or ends up sinking into oblivion. The couple has not issued a statement on the matter, as for example Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow did.
