Jedet has won the trial against the man whom he denounced for sexual assault and humiliation, after the sentence handed down by the Criminal Court No. 7 of Zaragoza. The resolution confirms the events that occurred in the early hours of January 29, 2023, during the party after the Feroz Awards at Espacio Ebro in Zaragoza, although the details of the conviction have not been made public.
According to the complaints, film producer Javier Pérez Santana performed non-consensual touching and sexually harassed the actress during the event, and also shouted transphobic insults at her. The producer was arrested that same night by the National Police and was released with charges.
After the ruling, Jedet has reflected on the difficulty of reporting, pointing out that the processes are long and emotionally hard. Even so, she has encouraged other women in the audiovisual industry to raise their voices in the face of situations of abuse: “We cannot allow those who commit crimes against us to go unpunished,” she indicated.
Furthermore, Carmen Jedet has expressed her disappointment with the organization of the Feroz Awards, which she accuses of having leaked her name to the press despite the fact that the complaint was filed privately, which forced her to take refuge for weeks in Madrid to “protect herself.”
Jedet affirms that today “a nightmare ends” and that he closes a “very hard stage with the peace of mind of having told the truth and of having trusted in justice.”
