The legendary Californian brand JBL, leader in speaker systems High Fidelity, Home Cinema, recording and sound studios, has just presented the updated version of the Stage seriesone of its most popular and affordable ranges of speakers for home applications. Building on the success of its predecessor, Stage 2 benefits from substantial innovations in each of its key aspects, from the external design (with two striking finishes named Latte and Espresso in the entire range except the subwoofers) to the transducers, bass-reflex ports and crossover filters, with the in order to offer some sound performance and one polyvalence unparalleled within its price segment. Among the particularly significant novelties we must first highlight the presence of a tweeter with aluminum diaphragm 25 mm anodized, mounted on the latest generation (“Next Generation”) of the famous waveguide with JBL HDI speaker, in order to maximize the directivity, reduce diffraction and improve the frequency response curve inside and outside the axis of symmetry.
With respect to the reproduction of midrange and bass, the main contribution is the striated polycellulose cones in woofers and “midwoofers”, a solution that allows gain control and precision during music and movie listening sessions at high volume levels. The presence of flared bass-reflex ports in all models of the range, with the exception of the Atmos 240H module, which uses an airtight enclosure. Another great novelty incorporated into the Stage 2 series is a high precision crossover filter in whose treble section there are coils with air core and mylar capacitors, while in the bass section we have laminated coils and electrolytic capacitors.
Thanks to this combination of “premium” components, it is possible to manage a superior power and increase speed of energy transmission, thus improving the overall performance of the system both in pure and simple musicality as in music/cinema versatility. This JBL proposal is completed with magnetic fixing protective grilles whose elegant aesthetics facilitate integration into a wide repertoire of domestic spaces. Regarding the composition of the range, there are two bookshelf monitors (Stage 250B and Stage 240B)two columns (Stage 280F and Stage 260F), a central acoustic box (Stage 245C) an Atmos module intended for the two columns (Stage 240H), which can also play traditional surround sound effects, and two active subwoofers (Stage 220P and Stage 200P).
